The Chair Challenge is a contest open to the public for the best decorated old wooden chair!

Sat. Sept. 2, CHAIR CHALLENGE ~ 10AM – 5PM
Chairs will be displayed up and down Main & Taylor street Aug 26 – Saturday Sept 2nd*.

Awards will given out on Sept 2nd including ‘People’s Choice’, ‘Best of Show’ and a few other creative awards. ‘Best of Show’ will be chosen by the Mayor. All chairs will auctioned off at 3pm and a portion of proceeds go to the chair owner, the Shopkeeper Group and Hardin County Humane Society. Entree fee is $5. Need an old wood chair? Here is how YOU can participate in the Chair Challenge: 

1. REGISTER for the chair challenge »


2. DROP OFF YOUR CHAIR

Drop off your chair and your $5 entry fee to Beech Tree Antiques Wed. Aug 23 thru Sat. Aug 27 12noon ’til 5:00. No chairs will be accepted after that time so don’t be late!  Sorry, cash only and your $5 fee is non-refundable. Chairs should be able to be left outside so no fabric please

3. Attend the Chair Challenge Auction Sept 2nd @ 3pm!
All chairs will auctioned off at 3pm Saturday Sept 2nd. Profits will benefit chair owners, Shopkeepers Group and a portion donated to Hardin County Humane Society.

Please note: PARTICIPATION TERMS:
As a Chair Challenge participant you will be asked to sign a waiver stating that you understand you will receive 33% of the auction price if your chair sells. The remaining amount is split between the Hardin Co. Human Society and the Shopkeeper Group to go toward marketing the shops. You understand your chair will be displayed in public on Main or Taylor Street which is an unsecured area. The Shopkeeper Group is not responsible for theft or vandalism of your chair. In addition, all chairs will be left out in the weather – please make your chair weather-resistant. As a participant you understand Shopkeepers will not bring the chairs inside during inclement weather.
