New Mural for Henry Martin Memorial Park

20+ years ago the Henry Martin Memorial Park mural was painted directly onto the brick building. But over time, the mural cracks & peels making it necessary to continuously repaint every so often. The cracking and peeling is due to the buildings unglazed soft, older bricks are porous and they absorb moisture – when moisture is trapped inside the brick, it freezes then expands and causes paint to crack and peel off. So it was time for a new mural.  We created 3 designs and asked the community to help deciding which design was best…

AND THE WINNER… THE TRAIN!

Thank you to everyone who helped decide on the new Henry Martin Park mural design in 2022. There were a total of 172 votes from the direct mailer, the online form and Facebook. The train design got 106 votes, the Centennial Parade design got 32 and the Photo Scrapbook design rec’d 34.

The new Henry Martin Memorial Park mural design was applied to a canvas material that attaches to the building’s brick using a unique spring system, a technique developed by Lind Sign in Mansfield. The system provides durability, affordability, easier maintenance, and sustains the integrity of the older historic brick.

A SURPRISE!

Within the new mural are several ‘Easter Eggs’… more on that later!

MVCIC would like to give special thanks to our sponsors, grantors and all the people who donated to the Henry Martin Memorial Park mural project. The new mural could not be possible without YOU!
